Opera McGill marks 60 years of training, mentoring, and nurturing young artists with a celebratory season featuring a glittering production of Die Fledermaus, a beloved and lighthearted masterwork by Johann Strauss II. This glamorous new production is inspired by Klimt, featuring dramatic sets and costumes in black, white and gold, and with new dialogue in French, German and English. In celebration of Opera McGill’s anniversary season, there will be cameo appearances from guests and alumni. Stage and music direction is by Patrick Hansen, who will conduct the McGill Symphony Orchestra. Die Fledermaus marks the first time that Opera McGill has moved to a new major Montreal venue, with performances taking place at the Monument National’s Salle Ludger-Duvernay.

Afin de célébrer 60 ans d’enseignement, de mentorat et de soutien des jeunes artistes, Opéra McGill offre une saison des plus festives, mettant en scène l’étincelant Die Fledermaus de Johann Strauss II. Cet opéra léger et tant aimé, fera littéralement briller la nouvelle année. L'équipe de conception d'Opéra McGill a agrémenté l'œuvre de 1874 en y insérant de nouveaux dialogues en français, en allemand et en anglais. Le deuxième acte, dans lequel on pourra admirer de magnifiques décors inspirés par l'artiste viennois Gustav Klimt, sera ponctué d'apparitions éclair de la part d'invités surprises et d'anciens d'Opéra McGill. Patrick Hansen occupera le double poste de metteur en scène et de directeur musical.
