In August 2020, the Goethe Institut invited video artists from Canada and Germany to submit their ideas on the topic "The City in Times of the Virus": Will nature reconquer the inner cities? How do social rules and medical hygiene rules affect our bodies? How will we move in the urban space? How will we interact in the era of social distancing? - The eight selected videos will be projected after dark onto screens placed in the storefront windows of the Goethe-Institut Montreal on Boulevard St. Laurent until March 2021.

About the film
Documentation Report is a sequentially numbered growing image archive that documents a fictional performance in public space by a woman who is wearing a hat or having a head that looks like a surveillance camera. She is seen as she is walking in different formerly communist cities, looking at surveillance cameras around important buildings in the public space. For instance, the federal intelligence agency in Berlin, or the National Cultural Palace in Sofia.

The filmmaker has personal connections to all the places that she and her cinematographer filmed at. For instance, she was born in Sofia before the fall of the Berlin wall during the socialist regime and shot in the street she'd lived on. Her family, like many people living in socialism, was affected by state surveillance, which is a detail she knows little about.
