Jahreshauptversammlung 2018

Direktoren:
Dr. Gisela Steinle, Präsidentin
Sabine Kerner, Vizepräsidentin
Michael Cocolakis, Schatzmeister
Dr. Rosemarie Schade, Schriftführerin

Beisitzer:
Irmtraud Banse-Gributs
Me Neville-Warren Cloutier
Ute Christine Hanson
Prof. Manuel Meune
Alexander Seibel

Administrateurs :
Dre Gisela Steinle, présidente
Sabine Kerner, vice-présidente
Michael Cocolakis, trésorier
Dre Rosemarie Schade, secrétaire

Assesseurs:
Irmtraud Banse-Gributs
Me Neville-Warren Cloutier
Ute Christine Hanson
Prof. Manuel Meune
Alexander Seibel

On May 27 we had our Annual General Meeting. 31 members were in attendance. As usual, we heard the reports by the president, the secretary, and the treasurer. The latter submitted the financial statements of the German Society and the Relief and Welfare Fund. All reports were unanimously adopted.

The four directors’ mandate expired this spring, and all DGM members were sent nomination forms by the Election Committee, consisting of Horst Richter, Renate Taylor, and Gisela Wighton, for candidatures. There were no new nominations and as the previous directors all agreed to save another term, there were no elections necessary.

So, as of June 1st, the following members will serve on the Board of Directors:

Directors:
Dr. Gisela Steinle, President
Sabine Kerner, Vice President
Michael Cocolakis, Treasurer
Dr. Rosemarie Schade, Secretary

Councillors:
Irmtraud Banse-Gributs
Me Neville-Warren Cloutier
Ute Christine Hanson
Prof. Manuel Meune
Alexander Seibel

Following the official part of the meeting, two representatives of LARAM, the Montreal refugee support organization, gave us a PowerPoint presentation about the project which the DGM supports as well. The family is expected in about two years, has already been vetted by the Canadian Government and approved for immigration. LARAM will be responsible for them for a

year, once they arrive in Montreal. Several working groups have already been formed to take on this ask (e.g. for housing, transport, education, healthcare etc.). A lively discussion followed the presentation.  I will keep the membership informed about any further developments.

Everybody enjoyed our traditional Kaffee and Kuchen which followed.  Thanks again to Maria Neuper for her delicious cakes and to Sabine Lorenz for the preparations for the afternoon. Lili Ahn helped out one last time before her return to Germany. We wish her a good start back in the old homeland!
